CAMPAIGN INFORMATION AND UPDATES:

The Capital Regional District has been directed by the provincial government to come up with a schedule for the provision of sewage treatment by June 30, 2007.  In response, the CRD is developing a report through their Core Liquid Waste Management Committee that will be completed by December of 2006.  Ultimately, the interests of CUPE Local 1978 members and the general public are best served by ensuring that any proposed sewage treatment facility(ies) is/are publicly owned, operated and maintained.  With that goal in mind, Local 1978 has developed a local action plan to keep it public.
A Campaign Coordinator, Kim Manton, has been hired by Local 1978, and can be reached via phone at 888-0270 or 472-1978 and via email at Keepitpublic@cupe1978.com
